Event description

Especially when we struggle with our process, composing poems of just a few lines can help us reconnect with the muse. We will survey short poetic forms such as haiku and tanka, as well as the work of contemporary poets such as Kenneth Koch, Louise Gluck, Charles Simic, and others, to find inspiration for our own writing. Open to writers of all skill levels and genres.

PATTI BLANCO completed a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the University of Arizona and is a poetry and poetic prose writer. She taught writing and literature at the university level for several years and her work has appeared in various anthologies. She is currently completing a collection of poetic prose pieces documenting life in the mining town of Miami, Arizona during the 1930s and 1940s.

Registration is not required.

This project is supported by the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
