Event description

In 1900, J.C. Leyendecker was the most famous illustrator in America. Artist Norman Rockwell called him his greatest inspiration. For fifty years, the men Leyendecker painted appeared on the covers of The Saturday Evening Post, idealized, elegant, and electrifyingly alive. Now, we see something that Leyendecker's public did not, or perhaps chose not to. This presentation asks you to consider what Leyendecker and several other artists revealed when they painted men.

Registration is not required.

This art lecture series is presented in partnership with the Phoenix Art Museum.

All events at the Glendale Public Library are public, and participants may be photographed by the media and/or City staff for future print and/or online publication.
