Event description

Continue your journey into African music with hands-on workshops led by Baba Shibambo and Connie Avery as part of their African Music and Arts Village residency at the Glendale Public Library. Designed for teens and adults, these interactive sessions invite participants to explore indigenous instruments, rhythms, and cultural traditions through guided instruction, collaboration, and call-and-response. No experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and enjoy a welcoming space to learn, connect, and make music together.

Participants will also have the unique opportunity to apply what they’ve learned by performing alongside Baba and Connie at the residency’s grand finale concert—becoming an integral part of the village and its shared celebration of rhythm, culture, and unity.

All events at the Glendale Public Library are public, and participants may be photographed by the media and/or City staff for future print and/or online publication.

This event is funded by a City of Glendale Performing Arts Grant.
